Life Cork Tiles Natural Lacquered Flooring Installation Guide
Cork Tile Flooring must be fully glued down to the subfloor with a recommend adhesive.
On concrete sub-floors the moisture level must not exceed 75%RH when tested with a hygrometer in accordance with BS8203-4; 2001. Where readings above 75%RH are recorded it would be necessary to install a surface DPM (damp proof membrane) such as Mapeiproof ESM, this applies to both new and old floors.
To ensure a smooth and level surface all concrete subfloor must be levelled out with a smoothing compound such as Mapei Ultraplan Eco. This provides a smooth and level surface to lay the flooring onto which will greatly enhance the look and life of the floor.
On timber subfloors floorboards / chipboard should be well secured, loose boards firmly fastened, worn/broken boards replaced, undulations filled with a suitable smoothing compound prior to overlaying with 6mm plywood, primed with Mapei Eco Prim T.
Only recommended adhesives should be used when installing Cork Tiles. We and the manufacturer reccomend you use the Wakol Cork Contact Adhesive which can also be found on our website, or in the related accessories page.
This is a brief guide on installing Cork tiles always refer to the manufactures installation guides in the packs of the flooring.
