Galleria Elite Fumed Oak 189mm Oiled Engineered Flooring is a beautiful nature grade oak floor with a range of attractive natural features, giving it a traditional character. Among these are lines, knots, colour variations and a few hints of sapwood and character marks.

The grain has been emphasised by the addition of UV oil, which gives extra protection and a warm feel. It has V-grooves between planks as a result of each piece having bevelled edges on all four sides, the effect being greater definition and depth for the whole floor.

As well as looking attractive, the product is also extremely stable, with 11 layers of birch plywood material, which are topped with 4 mm of oak hardwood. This surface section is designed to be sanded up to six times, although it can last as long as 20 years without this being required if it is looked after well.

Galleria Engineered Structural Fumed Oak 189mm Oiled is 189mm wide, has a total thickness of 18mm and comes in standard lengths of 1860mm with 2 starter boards at random length in each pack.

Galleria Elite Fumed Oak 189mm Oiled Engineered Flooring Installation Guide

Engineered floors are very dimensionally stable allowing them to be installed over most types of sub floors. They are suitable for all areas of the house except bathrooms and wet areas. They are also suitable for use over under floor heating.

All floating flooring installations must use an approved underlay. Over a concrete subfloor you will need to use a underlay which has a built in vapour barrier like Cushion Plus White Underlay, while over a wooden subfloor you can use the Cushion Standard White Underlay. For installations over under floor heating we recommend using Cushion Heat Flow underlay. Superior underlays like Cushion Ultra Silver Underlay and Cushion Premium Black Underlay can be used to give better support to your new flooring which prolongs the life and also aids during installation by removing some minor imperfections from the sub-floor. Also for improved noise reduction we recommend the Cushion Acoustic Pro Underlay, bringing peace and quiet to the room.

Each board has a Tongue and grooved profile on all four sides, to join the boards together simply insert the tongue into the groove on a flat surface after running a bead of glue along the inside of the groove on the board you are trying to fixate.

You will need to leave a 10mm expansion gap around the perimeter of the room. To maintain this gap during installation spacers are provided in the installation kits (purchased separately).

After you have installed the floor you can cover this expansion gap with scotia / beading or you can replace you old skirting boards with new ones, this gives a much more professional finish. The 10mm expansion gap also needs to be left in doorways where the floor follows through from one room to another; we have a full range of door profiles available to match your floor.

Engineered Tongue and Grooved flooring can also be fully glued down, secret nail/screwed down or glued down with liquid battens.

The above is a brief guideline on the installation of engineered flooring; always refer to the manufactures installation guidelines contained within packs of the flooring or visit our Flooring Manufacture Installation Guides

Galleria Elite Fumed Oak 189mm Oiled Engineered Flooring Maintenance Guide

In order to ensure lasting satisfaction from your new oil finished floor, it is important to correctly care for the floor from the off, starting immediately after installation. With the right care, the oiled floor will become increasingly easy to clean and more hard wearing over time. This is because the recommended soap used to clean the floor, actually coats it with an invisible film, providing additional protection and thus making the floor more resistant to dirt. The floor can also be re-oiled as part of a regular maintenance program thus ensuring a lifetime of use and enjoyment.

After-Installation Care

All oiled floors are recommended to be thoroughly cleaned with “Easy Clean Oiled Flooring Natural Soap Cleaner” right after installation and as a regular cleaning regime.  As a result of this the surface will then be more hardwearing and be easier to clean and maintain in the future.

Normal cleaning to remove surface debris is accomplished using a broom and vacuum cleaner. In order to achieve the best cleaning possible use, “Easy Clean Oiled Flooring Natural Soap Cleaner” a highly concentrated soap for cleaning and maintenance of oiled wooden surfaces, suitable for flooring, furniture, kitchen surfaces, and all indoor wood.

 Instruction for use:

1. Shake thoroughly prior to use.

2. Always use two buckets: one – for the soap solution, the other – water for rinsing.

3. Mix approx. 250ml of the soap with 10L of warm water and apply a thin layer onto the flooring; particularly soiled areas should be cleaned with a brush or cloth first.

4. Rinse the cloth or mop in the second bucket and wipe the floor dry.

5. Water in the other bucket should be changed regularly so as to prevent spreading the already removed dirt back onto the floor.

6. Do not wipe the floor with pure water as the protective soya and coconut oils will be removed!

7. With each subsequent use of the soap, the floor will become less susceptible to soiling.

Coverage approx. 50-80 m2/l, Dependent on wood type.

Cleaning Extremely Dirty Floors

If the floor has been neglected and/or becomes very dirty, it should be cleaned using “Easy Clean Oiled Flooring Intensive Cleaner,” developed for deep penetration of the woods fibre, helping to lift the grain and encourage absorption of a new application of “Easy Clean Oiled Flooring Refresher.”

Instructions for use

Maintenance Oil Application

“Easy Clean Oiled Flooring Refresher,” for use on all oiled wooden surfaces.

Used once or twice a year, depending on the level of dirt, to restore and protect, if the floor has become dull and tired looking. It will help in everyday care and reinforces the floors resistance to dirt, and help to give it a new lease of life.

Instruction for use:

1. First clean the soiled surface with “Easy Clean Oiled Flooring Intensive Cleaner,” and leave to dry thoroughly for 4 to 8 hrs.

2. Apply a thin layer of “Easy Clean Oiled Flooring Refresher,” with a diffuser or a cloth and then rub manually or mechanically into the wood with a polishing machine until a smooth, silky-matt surface is revealed.

3. Make sure you leave no excess oil on the surface.

4. Within approx. 4 hrs. The floor may be walked on, though the full hardening time is 24 hrs. During which time the floor must not be cleaned with water and should be used sparingly and with care.

5. For future after care and routine cleaning  maintenance “Easy Clean Oiled Flooring Natural Soap Cleaner,” is then recommended.

6. Easy Clean Oiled Flooring Refresher is ready-to-use without diluting

Coverage approx. 50-60 m2/l, Dependent on the wood type.

Excellent quality. The only question I have concerns the one standard width. Might be a problem if one wanted to lay a traditional oak floor plan of varied widths.

Ordered 24m2 of this 189mm board and I am happy with how it looks for sure, however I am not overly happy with the hardness of the wood, dents very very easily and would advise anyone very strongly to check this out before commiting. Would I use this particular wood again? No. \nAlso woudl definitely recommend the wider borads over the 150mm boards. Sample nothing like the finished article however it looks better than I imagined from the sample.

We have installed this Engineered Oak flooring in our kitchen dinner, it works very well and the quality is excelant. Everyone remarks on how nice it looks. However we did have to wait longer than expected for the delivery. I think it was out of stock and it was a couple of extra weeks coming from the supplier. Now it is down it was worth the wait.
