Brushed and Oiled Solid Wood Flooring

An old, solid wood floor that has been well cared for is among the most attractive features of any traditional home. The natural oils used to preserve and protect these kinds of floors give the wood a warm and inviting appearance that sets it apart from the other kinds of flooring that are on the market. Thankfully, the same look can be achieved in newer structures through the installation of budget solid wood flooring that has been brushed and oiled.

Much like brushed and lacquer solid wood flooring, brushed and oiled solid wood flooring has been specially treated or brushed to remove evidence of new growth from the floorboards. The flooring is then treated with a natural oil instead of lacquer, and the brushing process helps to make the wood slightly more absorbent, which means the oil can sink deeper into the grain of the wood. After hardening, the oil transforms the wood into a quality wood flooring product that has a character and appearance similar to that of an older, aged wood floor.
