Brushed & Lacquer Bamboo Solid Wood Flooring

Bamboo flooring is available in a number of finishes of which brushed & lacquer is one of the most popular. To achieve a brushed lacquer finish, a wire brush is drawn across the surface of the bamboo to remove the top layer. This enhances the appearance of the grain, giving the surface of the flooring a more distinct look. Without brushing, the surface can be extremely flat and the grain may not be visible.

After brushing, the surface of each plank is covered with a layer of lacquer. This protects against penetration by water and also provides an additional layer of protection against wear and tear. Like hardwood, bamboo flooring can be sanded and refinished to revitalise its look after many years of use. If this is done with a brushed and lacquer finish, the result will be a simple sanded and lacquered finish as it will not be possible to reproduce the brushing.
