Durable and Water Proof – Alloc Laminate Flooring

September 23rd, 2010

Question: Is there any laminate flooring that would be durable and at the same time water proof? What are the advantages of such flooring over the traditional flooring?

Answer: In terms of durability, strength, ability and water resistance the new Alloc laminate flooring provides perhaps the best option. The new system is termed as Alloc as it is joined together using the aluminum strips. This provides the flooring with great strength as well as durability. No underlay is required for this type of flooring since it is already located at the underside of the boards while they are manufactures. However putting some plastic down first would be best while you are laying down the floating floor over concrete surface. This will give protection against the moisture. Also important is to see that the first row of the boards are straight and put in close proximity to each other and this will maintain the good pattern of the floor. One row going out of line may cause the floor to go abrupt. In laying the Alloc laminate flooring, with the aluminum strips locking the boards into place, chances of having gaps are few and far. In conventional flooring the joints are mostly prone to moisture affects. In result the wood expands and cracks or if it is engineered or laminated, they loose their natural glamour and flavor. However the Alloc laminate floor has wax impregnated inside the tongue and groove and it provides good damp proofing. On the other hand the aluminum strips give a tensile strength at approximately in the range of one tonne per square meter of the laminate planks and therefore they won?t come apart easily. Core of each of the plank that is used in this type of laminate flooring contains very high density of wood fibre and they are topped with laminate. The added advantage is that the bottom contains laminate boards as well. Therefore these floors are extremely resistant to hard knocks. Just after placing your Alloc laminate flooring you can straightaway walk on them. No glue or varnish to dry as in other wood planked or hardwood flooring is there in the alloc laminate flooring. The best part of it is that there is ordinarily 15 years warranty and you can have your floor color chosen out of the 17 varieties available. Invention of Alloc laminate flooring was made to cater to the requirement of the customers in finding out something that is like the wooden floors but that is moisture resistant and easy to install. Manufacturers have started strengthening their business further with added qualities to the laminate flooring. Laminate flooring is by nature more resistant to external pressure and weather fluctuations than other types of flooring and since the top of the floor is photographic representation they also do not lose their décor quickly. Both in terms of installation and in terms of maintenance this type of flooring is better and inexpensive in nature compared to hard wood flooring and even many forms of engineered flooring. Installation becomes easy once you are conversant with the joining of planks matching their stains. Laminate stains do not fetter away like the wood stains in the long run and there is possibility that they would still look as good as newly bought even after the lapse of the 15 years warranty period. In providing resilience, durability, quality, and moisture resistance, Alloc laminate flooring remains your best bet to day.
