Laminate wood flooring question
[February 17th, 2012]
Q: We are looking to use laminate flooring over about 35 sq meter long, diner and kitchen, would standard laminate be ok to go in the kitchen as risk of getting some water on it? We are also considering engineered flooring, would it make a huge difference to the feel/look of the flooring and which would you recommend to be better? Also which underlay would be best to use?

How carpets can be green
[September 14th, 2010]
A - There are many flooring options that can be eco-friendly - such as wood from sustainable sources and cork which is always sustainable, but that's certainly not to say that you can't have an eco-friendly carpet and there are three ways you can do this. One of them is for existing carpets to be re-used, which may mean a perfectly good material being passed on second hand.A good example of this is at the National Hockey Stadium in Milton Keynes, which is being demolished to make way for a new Network Rail office complex. The carpets at the venue are being given away to sporting clubs around the area.Secondly, with worn carpets, there are ways they can still be re-used, with plenty of real-life examples of these being collected and the fibres recycled to make into new carpet tiles. And a third way is for the carpet itself to be made from something else in the first place. In October the Tokyo Film Festival decided to have a green carpet instead of a red one to emphasise the environmental theme of the event, so not only was it the right colour, but was made from old plastic bottles. So yes, carpets can be green.

Wool Carpets -- Take Extra Care of Your Home
[September 23rd, 2010]
Question: I’m currently in the process of selecting carpets for my new home. Among my choices are wool carpets. These carpets have come highly recommended by my friends and colleagues as most of them use these for their homes. Is it really true that wool has some advantages over the other types of carpets? What can I get in return for my investment in these carpets?

Sea Grass Carpets -- Facts You Must Know
[September 23rd, 2010]
Question: Sea grass carpets? What are they? Somehow I am inclined to think they are carpets made from grass taken from the deep seas. What exactly are sea grass carpets? Are they really seaweed that are sewed together and sold as a carpet? Please enlighten me as I am thoroughly confused.
