A further victim of the tough economic climate has been named as a family flooring business has been forced to close its doors for the final time.

Bennetts Flooring had stores in Luton, St Albans and Ampthill but last week the owners warned that they had been forced in to potential administration.

Reports emerged several weeks back that the stores had closed with no explanation after almost twenty years in the flooring industry.

However the owners did not blame the economic climate or the effect that a range of price increases are having on the sector.

A company which owed Bennetts Flooring a large sum of money went in to administration leaving the firm with large debts and one of their stores suffered damage after a flood and fire.

The retailer sold carpets, vinyl, safety floors and wooden flooring via the three showrooms and an online store.

Today the company website stated that Bennetts Flooring is unable to take sales enquiries due to unforeseen circumstances.

The owners made it clear that they would hope to honour existing customers where possible.
