Always lift the drum off of the floor if you must stop while you are sanding. It only takes a few seconds to damage a hardwood floor.

When refinishing floors, there is often a great deal of dust and sawdust on the floor after they are sanded. Remove all of this dust material before finishing the floors to avoid any flaws in your finish.
Staining the floors should be done with a rag to keep the stain even on the floor. Many people will brush the stain on the floor and then use a rag to work the excess into the floor. It is better to simply use a rag for the whole process to save time and work efficiently.
It is not necessary to stain the floors. A wood that has a natural light colour can look stunning in the room with just polyurethane for shine applied.
Apply the polyurethane in even strokes with a brush or roller. The first coat should be allowed to dry for at least three hours before the second coat is applied.Wait at least three days for the final coat to dry before moving furniture or rugs into the room.
