Carpet sales to help penguins

Carpet sales to help penguins

A flooring company are using their carpet sales to provide a new home for nine penguins in a local zoo.

The unusual step has been taken by Mohawk in the hope of raising thousands of dollars to go towards a new building for the African penguins.

The flooring company will donate 10 cents from the purchase of every square foot of carpet to the local good cause.

Carpet makes up the majority of the firm’s business, with the store owner hoping to raise over $5,000 to contribute to the $30,000 new building.

There is also a slight link between the penguins’ current accommodation and flooring – the current penguin quarters need replacing because of water damage – also a big problem for flooring.

A brand new concrete building will soon be the penguins’ new home and the wooden floor
