Consumers demand green

It is no secret that more and more people are trying to live a more environmentally conscious life, which extends to choosing the best option of flooring.

The great news for the environment, and the flooring industry, is that customers are now making the environmental characteristics of floors one of the biggest priorities when buying floors.

Mike Domingue, owner of US company Floor Depot, said: “We have customers who only request environmentally friendly products. They won’t buy it unless it’s green.”

It means that flooring companies are starting to compete for the best range of sustainable floors, which means a bigger choice for those who are prioritising the environment.

Focus on sustainable floors also means that people who aren’t specifically looking for eco-friendly products may choose one of these because of the great design choices.

Sales of bamboo and cork flooring are benefitting from the change in attitude from consumers as both options regenerate swiftly unlike trees which have to be cut down for the timber to be used for flooring.

Both of these products have many other benefits which also mean that they work well in many rooms and fit in really well with a variety of design schemes.
