Cork Flooring a feature of green home
Cork flooring is a feature of a new eco-home that is powered entirely by geothermal energy.

Both bamboo and cork are included in the flooring at 227 Homer St. in Newton Centre, Massachusetts, the Boston Herald reports.

These items stand alongside features like triple gazed windows, spray foam insulation and LED lighting.

At $3.8 million (£2.4 million) the house is not a cheap one, but the cork and bamboo flooring may be among the least expensive of these elements as such materials are readily available, being made from sustainable and renewable sources.

The price of the home may also be substantially raised by luxury features such as an elevator and a garage with space for three cars.

Cork flooring is located in the kitchen, while bamboo makes up other downstairs floors.

Last week, Eagle News noted the role cork flooring played in creating a "balanced" ambience in a yoga studio in Florida.
