Engineered best with underfloor heating

Engineered Wood Floors

Engineered flooring has been declared the best option for use with underfloor heating systems to allow the heat in to the room.

This is because standard solid wood floors are more prone to expansion and contraction with the changing temperatures.

Greater strength and stability is offered by engineered floorboards so that the planks are less likely to expand and contract.

The difference between standard wood flooring installation and fitting it over underfloor heating is the amount of underlay used.

It is good practice to use a lot of underlay to create an even surface, aid insulation and reduce the amount of sound which travels.

With underfloor heating it is more important to get a particularly thin flooring underlay to allow the heat to circulate more effectively.

It has also been discovered that it is important to increase or decrease heat slowly and carefully because of the sensitivity of wood flooring to temperature changes.
