Engineered wood flooring 'is the best'
27th May 2010
Trong Nguyen from Sacramento in California formed the La Bou coffee and croissant chain 29 years ago, but has subsequently switched to making engineered flooring through his Sawbridge Flooring company, the Sacramento Bee reports.
The firm previously made doors, but switched two years ago during the recession to become what Mr Nguyen claims is the only engineered flooring firm in northern California.
He suggested that engineered flooring looks better than solid wood flooring, does not warp and is more sustainable.
The company seeks to be greener by using a lot of reclaimed wood, such as from old wine barrels.
Commenting on the difference between making food and manufacturing floors, he told the paper: "If I make a sandwich, it's gone in ten minutes. But if I make a floor, it lasts 100 years."
Another wooden floor company in the US making progress this month was Whole Log Lumber, which recently revealed it is merging with wood flooring products firm WOCA, on the basis that the combined company can provide a comprehensive wood flooring service.
