Flooring skills to be needed in Wales, experts predict
Workers skilled in flooring are likely to be in demand in Wales in the coming years, it has been predicted.

A report from ConstructionSkills forecast that people equipped with the trade, as well as a number of others, will be required due to the building of new homes.

The organisation, which in the sector skills council for the construction industry, produced a report indicating that around 30,000 jobs will be produced in the country over the next five years.

Indeed, the construction sector is expected to employ approximately 132,000 people in Wales by 2014 - 4,000 more than the level seen before the recession.

Executive director of the Welsh Built Environment Forum Chris Hughes remarked: "Despite the current downturn, the built environment sector retains its capability to strengthen Wales' economy considerably in the years ahead."

According to ConstructionSkills, 2.1 million people across the UK are employed by the industry, which contributes over eight per cent of gross domestic product.
