Further price rises in flooring industry

One of the larger premium flooring manufacturers has been forced to announce that there will be a price rise affecting their products in 2012.

While there has been a lot of news on a global scale of prices increasing to cover the cost of transportation and raw materials this is one of the first announcements from such an established firm.

The announcement was made by Amtico International, which produces a competitive range of luxury vinyl tiles for a wide and varied market.

Effective from the beginning of February 2012 the price increase will be around 3-7% and will be applied to a range of the company’s flooring products.

Increasing prices of fuel are pushing flooring prices higher and the rise in raw material cost is also causing major problems in the industry.

Many flooring firms have also been severely affected by the drop in housing sales because new homes generate a lot of business for some floor companies.

Fortunately many flooring manufacturers and suppliers are surviving the economic slump and have noted the demand for value floor ranges as well as the traditional flooring options.
