Laminate flooring an 'easy-to-install' option
26th August 2009
Celia Kuperschmid Lehrman, deputy home editor at Consumer Reports, told KOMO News that although the material is not suitable for a bathroom, it can be easy to put down in other areas of the home.
"Plastic laminate is pretty tough, it can hold up better than some wood products, which makes it even more economical," said the specialist.
Other options recommended due to their ease of installation included engineered flooring, which Ms Kuperschmid Lehrman noted will not expand and contract as much as solid wood.
For those seeking a material for the bathroom, she added that vinyl flooring can withstand the moisture and wear.
Laminate flooring was recently proposed as an option for home offices, with Karl Lohnes of Style at Home magazine telling homemakers.com that it is smooth and easy to clean.
