Laminate flooring workers find artistic streak
14th April 2010
Two employees of a laminate flooring specialist in South Wales have discovered artistic talents that have led to them opening their own gallery, it has been revealed
Adam Clarke from Cardiff and David Robinson of Marshfield near St Mellons were both employed as floor fitters for a laminate firm when they began discussing the fact that both used to enjoy drawing, the South Wales Echo reports.
The pair took up the hobby again and found that people loved their work, although their lack of professional training meant they were unable to persuade galleries to display their work.
Instead, they set up their own online gallery on behalf of artists like themselves and have subsequently been invited to display their work elsewhere.
While some laminate floor fitters have displayed their skills as artists, those buying laminate flooring may enjoy the benefits of great designs themselves.
Laminate is also an increasingly green material, according to recent comments by South African manufacturer of such products Floors Direct.
It commented that such flooring now uses plenty of recycled material, Engineering News reported.
