Mapei embrace green issues

Mapei has recognised the importance of environmentally friendly products and invested in research and development in order to provide new, greener products.

These new environmentally friendly products are due to be showcased at Ecobuild 2011 in March, and will include Ultralite and Ultraflex adhesives.

The Product Manager at Mapei, Graham Stott, said: “We are committed to being responsible, using energy and resources sustainably,”

The new products now comply fully with emissions recommendations which are set out with regards to Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs).

Mapei have been working to guidelines from LEED (The Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) and BREEAM (the BRE Environmental Assessment Method), which allows them to work towards products with greener credentials.

It is likely that the environmentally friendly attributes for products like Mapei’s will be coming under closer scrutiny in coming years, following the interest in eco friendly floors.

A spokesperson said: “To emphasise Mapei’s serious commitment to the environmental welfare the company dedicates 70% of its research and sustainability solutions.”

This marks a great step for sustainable flooring because customers can now choose environmentally friendly flooring accessories to go with their environmentally friendly floors.
