Mapei looking to a greener future
To cement the company’s commitment to sustainability within the flooring industry Mapei has joined the UK Green Building Council.
The council is campaigning to create a building industry which doesn’t have a negative impact on the environment but still provides the same level of care and support.
Mapei is the world’s largest producer of adhesives and chemicals in the construction industry so this move, the latest in a number of steps to become more eco-friendly, should make a big impact.
Several products in the Mapei range have received certification for the low Volatile Organic Compound levels, which is an issue which the flooring industry has been particularly keen to target.
Mapei also produce a massive 150 different products which have been approved as sustainable as part of the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design.
It is likely that the company’s decision to apply for membership of the UK Green Building Council will encourage others in the construction industry to follow suit.
Consumer demand for high quality, good value and sustainability in all products is starting to push the construction industry along a more eco-friendly path and being able to buy greener flooring accessories will attract customers.
Mapei is known for its ongoing commitment to the environment, from production of eco-friendly adhesives to cutting down on waste products.
