UKFD in Times Fast Track 100
Local business UK Flooring Direct has bucked the trend of the current recession and achieved such high levels of success that the company is currently ranking in the prestigious Sunday Times Virgin Fast Track 100 list.
UK Flooring Direct is a new entry to the league table, yet the company rocketed straight in to the 24th position in the rankings. The flooring retailer appeared alongside household names in the list including Cath Kidston (69th place) and fashion retailer Jack Wills (number 37).
Jason Ashby, who was born and raised in Nuneaton, started the company in Ansley village in 2004 and built the business in to the fast-growing empire it is today.
The employees are largely from the local area and UK Flooring Direct has rapidly expanded with a sales growth of 101% a year, going from £735,000 in 2007 to £6m in 2010.
Company Director, Jason Ashby, said: “I’m delighted to be in the top 25% of the list and our entry goes to prove that despite the tough trading conditions within the flooring sector, the right approach can still reap success.
“I would like to take this opportunity to thank all the staff at UK Flooring Direct whose hard work and dedication is responsible in no small part for our position as one of the brightest private companies in the country.”
The flooring retailer takes pride in sourcing wood from sustainable suppliers and using only the highest quality products available.
Although the recession continues to make it difficult for businesses, UK Flooring Direct are on target to grow by 50% to a £9million turnover and the company is currently moving to a new 75,000ft2 head office and distribution centre.
This year has also seen investments in a £400,000 bespoke office ERP computer system to streamline all operations, from sales to deliveries.
Mr Ashby said: “This will improve efficiency in all areas and, most importantly, help to maintain the company’s high level of customer service.”
UK Flooring Direct is open to trade and public customers and the brand new 3000 sqft showroom will open on Bayton Road Industrial Estate, Exhall in January 2011.
For a company to be awarded a place on the list it must be an independent, unquoted and ultimate holding company with annual sales exceeding £250,000 in 2006 or 2007 and then not show a drop from 2009 to 2010 when sales had to exceed £5m.
