Wood flooring 'best material for recycling'
3rd February 2010
In a blog for Ever Green, Stacie Green Hidek stated that the material has the advantage of being able to last for centuries and thus does not need replacing.
As well as this, she noted: "Wood is also one of the only flooring options that doesn't necessarily end up in a landfill because it can be readily reused, recycled or repurposed."
The material is one of a number Ms Hidek listed as being green options.
Among these are nylon carpets - which can be recycled - and cork and bamboo, which come from renewable sources.
Earlier this week, a report from Silverwood Flooring noted that natural wood is a fashionable material at present as consumers like to use eco-friendly materials when laying down floors.
