3rd December 2009
The house, located in the Cheshire town of Sandbach, triumphed in the Best Timber Frame House and Popular Vote categories.
Oak wood flooring is combined with the use of the same material in its doors and staircase, the paper noted.
Commenting on the structure, owner John Warren said: "There's something alive in an oak-framed house."
The current value of the home is £650,000, with the cost of the development being £450,000.
Other winners included a home in Belgravia, London, which contained custom-made silk carpets and picked up the award for outstanding residential.
Earlier this week, American fashion and interior designer Ben di Lisi wrote in the Guardian about how he used wooden flooring made from walnut as the material of choice when renovating his new apartment in south London.
