Yellow carpet replaces red for premiere
The Hollywood premiere of animated film Despicable Me has seen members of the cast walking down a yellow carpet instead of a red one.

Steve Carrell and Julie Andrews were among those in attendance at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles yesterday (June27th), ahead of the general release due on July 9th.

The yellow colour is a reference to the hue of the minions in the 3-D animated film, who are used as servants of a super-villain called Gru, who plans to steal the moon.

Other stars include Miranda Cosgrove, Carly Fisher and Dana Gaier, whose orphan characters in the movie complicate matters for Gru by regarding him as a potential father.

The use of coloured carpets to reflect the appearance of some of the mythical creatures in a film has been used before in the past few months.

Avatar's premiere had a blue carpet to reflect the skin colour of the Na'avi, the aliens in the film defending their forest home against human invaders.
