Balloon tip for hardwood flooring
17th December 2009
A reader of the Lifehacker website from Australia noted that a friend had a bed that used to roll and slide on a hardwood floor.
The solution found was to put balloons over the wheels like a sock, having first cut off the rubber ring.
She stated: "The rubber/latex provides grip on the floorboards and if you add a second balloon, it will stop those annoying scratches/dents that always come about from furniture on this type of floor."
Such ingenuity may encourage those who are thinking of having a hardwood floor installed to consider using innovative ways to help keep it in the best condition.
A row recently occurred in Somerset when it was revealed that a playgroup had been banned from using sand and glitter to make Christmas cards, amid claims that the substances could damage a community centre wooden floor.
