Bamboo a part of eco-friendly home

A home in New York state has bamboo flooring as part of its eco-friendly design.

The floor is located in a custom-made, two unit WeeHouse in the town of Dundee, Jetson Green reports.

A self-built prefabricated home that can be assembled swiftly, the home has two bedrooms and two bathrooms, while in addition to its bamboo floors it has Forest Stewardship Council certified wood in its walls, doors and window frames.

It has a steel siding on the outside and a dual-floor boiler plus underfloor heating inside.

The house has been erected in the Finger Lakes area, with photos of the view showing a panoramic vista across the water.

Elsewhere in the US, a home for sale in Vancouver also sports a bamboo floor, it was noted this week.

The house in the city of Boise in Idaho has a bamboo floor in the living room, which the Boise Weekly reported is "naturally spotlighted by sunshine streaming in through the south-facing front window".
