Bamboo flooring is a major feature a new group home in the US.
Non-profit organisation Jarc has built the facility in Farmington Hills, a city in the state of Michigan.
It is the first of the body's projects to combine environmentally-friendly credentials with disability access and boasts geothermal heating.
In addition to the bamboo flooring, the home has been made from recycled building materials.
And chief executive of the Michigan Association of Home Builders Bob Filka was quoted by the Detroit Free Press as saying the combination of barrier-free access and green features is rare.
"I haven't heard of many projects like these around Michigan," he said.
Earlier this month, a couple in the US told North Shore Magazine they chose bamboo flooring because they wanted their home to be as eco-friendly as possible.
Brandi and Adam Secher explained that the hardwood flooring was used in their new kitchen, with other features also being made from sustainable materials.
