Bamboo flooring gets ten top tips

Writing for home and garden portal Helium.com, Betty Carew said a key feature of the material is its environmental qualities as a renewable substance that can be harvested without killing the plant.
She also noted that it is very strong, available in a wide range of shades and tones of colour and good at acclimatising because of its tropical adaptation, enabling it to deal with extremes of heat and humidity.
Ms Carew added that bamboo flooring is easy to fit, suitable for DIY flooring, widely available, not too expensive and simple to maintain.
She advised householders to "keep the ten great reasons to choose bamboo flooring on your shopping list to remind you that you are making a very good choice when you choose bamboo flooring".
Earlier this month, eco-website Tree Hugger noted that bamboo flooring had been installed in a passivhaus, a design that originated in Germany where the home maintains its own temperature.
