Bamboo flooring is a part of an eco-friendly home showcased for its combination of affordability and sustainability.

The 2010 Summit County Parade of Homes in Summit County, Colorado this month will be the "perfect opportunity" to see some of the best showhomes in the region, the Summit Daily reports.

It noted that bamboo floors have been part of a range of green innovations to make such dwellings more eco-friendly.

The widespread use of recycled materials, LED lighting, automated switches in homes and advanced insulation in walls and roofs are other elements used by builders.

Various forms of solar energy are also present in some of the homes and some of them have won an Energy Star rating and/or a Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design certificate.

Last week, the Chicago Sun reported on how the use of Bamboo Flooring is one element of a new green development in the city's MDA Apartments complex.
