Bamboo flooring that strands and delivers
12th November 2010
It is a caramelised product, which means the floor has been darkened to a mid-brown shade, while its markings of numerous thin lines and knots of varying tones hint at its manufacturing method.
This involves separating the strands of the bamboo and boiling out the sugar before weaving and pressing them together with a low-VOC adhesive, the result being a very durable bamboo with twice the density of the material in its natural state.
Each plank has bevelled edges to provide extra depth and definition, while a satin lacquer is added to give the floor a light-reflective sheen.
Other items in the range include the Ming Dynasty Solid Strand Woven Natural bamboo flooring, which is made in the same way but has a much lighter colour.
Both products come with a 30-year warranty.
