Bamboo tipped as top floor trend
21st April 2010
An article for Women 24 said that the product is growing in favour as many top designers opt for it over hardwood.
One of the reasons stated for its rise is that it is an environmentally friendly material, being made from grass that can re-grow and be harvested again and again, with 25 times the yield of hardwood.
It also needs no fertilisers or pesticides to sustain it and has been used as a flooring material across Asia for centuries.
The article also noted that buyers can choose between the traditional light blonde shade, or the darker, smoked look.
Bamboo flooring is a feature of an apartment block in the Canadian city of Calgary, it was recently revealed.
The Calgary Sun said that the interior of the building was "very unique", partly due to the use of the material.
