Boost for wool carpets as green agenda 'makes Britons go natural
26th July 2010
Public relations manager for the British Wool Marketing Board Bridgette Kelly observed: "People seem to think that all wool is the same and that all wool goes into jumpers, but that's not true of British wool."
While it is possible for people to buy synthetic products from overseas as an alternative to wool, the quality of the latter material when made by skilled craftspeople in Britain means it retains a strong position in the market, Ms Kelly stated.
"Quality still sells," she remarked.
Successful British carpet firms include Lancashire-based Drury Adams, which was formed in 1979.
The company recently applied to Rossendale Borough Council for planning permission as it seeks to move to new premises in a different part of the village of Bacup, with an increase in output and a dozen new jobs being part of the blueprint.
