Axminster Carpets has announced that it has completed a project to re-carpet a hotel in Kent.

The company stated that it has fitted the corridors and lift lobbies of the 100-room Bridgewood Manor hotel with a combined total of 840 sq m of material, of which 80 per cent was wool and the other 20 per cent nylon, made using Super Eight looms.

Director of development for Bridgewood Manor's owner QHotels, Trudi Purtill, explained that she worked with Axminster on studying a range of possible patterns and colours before deciding what would look best in the building.

"Key to the design success of the carpet was the creation of a broken barcode medium scale pattern that appears to turn 90 degrees, taking the eye off the challenging linearity so prevalent in hotel bedroom corridors", she stated.

It is not the first time in recent months that Axminster has undertaken a hotel carpeting project.

In January, the company revealed that it had completed the fitting of 20,000 sq ft of carpet in the Grange St Paul's hotel in the City of London, covering the halls and 437 rooms in the facility.
