Carpet slippers go literal
21st January 2010
French interior designer Lise el Sayed has come up with slippers that are cut out of pieces of a deep-pile rug, which then fit snugly back into it for storage, Inventorspot.com reports.
The idea is that this provides the feel of a soft carpet on the feet whatever the flooring surface.
According to the news provider, this means that such an experience can still be enjoyed while having a hardwood or tile surface in place.
Ms el Sayed's innovation is not the only recent use of carpet material that has been devised recently.
Eco-friendly insulation maker Second Nature - which is based in the Lake District - has developed a process where left-over carpet wool from factories can be made into natural insulating material for homes.
Its Edenbloc product was created with help from a £10,000 grant provided by the Lake District Sustainable Development Fund.
