Carpet tiles on the rise
Carpet tiles are often used in commercial premises for practical reasons but more places are using the option for design reasons as well.
‘Zoning’ is the term used by interior designers to describe the contemporary trend for combining different patterned or coloured carpet tiles to create distinctive areas outlined by just the flooring.
In large open-plan offices this method allows the area to be split in to separate, clear areas, while maintaining the spacious, contemporary atmosphere of an open-plan office.
Zoning can also highlight suitable walkways between work stations and the carpet tiles can even be used alongside vinyl or other materials for different textures.
Julie Dempster of Forbo Flooring Systems told Contract Flooring Journal: “Bright, stand out colours are a key influence in this trend, with many manufacturers integrating vivid shades into their ranges.”
Although carpet tiles have been considered an excellent practical option for many years, it is only recently that the attractive design options which can be created have been recognised.
For a professional appearance which doesn’t conform to the homogenous office-look, zoning can really add that extra something special as well as providing a practical function too.
