Carpet to be re-used as new rail centre is built
Old carpet from the former National Hockey Stadium in Milton Keynes is being donated to sports clubs around the area, it has been revealed.

The flooring is being given away along with a number of other fixtures and fittings from the former sporting venue, which is being demolished, the Homes and Communities Agency reports.

Office equipment, toilets and turnstiles are among the various items being recycled, some of which will be used at the new Network Rail national centre due to be built on the site once the old stadium has gone.

The construction of the new rail centre may also increase demand for new carpets, which could be installed on its floors.

And another flooring project may involve the football stadium being developed by Milton Keynes Dons, who previously played at the hockey stadium when the club was still called Wimbledon, following its controversial move from south London.

The club may increase the ground's capacity so it can be a venue for matches in the 2018 World Cup after it was included in a list of host towns and cities in England's bid to stage the tournament.
