Chinese engineered floors scandal continues
The extended deadline has been granted by the US Department of Commerce to allow the department to pursue further investigation in to the matter.
The department is being encouraged to act by a number of American flooring firms who are alleging that the Chinese engineered flooring is receiving unfair subsidisation, allowing the floors to be sold at lower prices.
The Coalition for American Hardwood Parity (CAHP) are the industry group have directed the petition solely at China because that is where they feel the greatest threat to the US wood flooring industry is coming from.
The questionnaires which are being used to discover more about the issue are incredibly detailed and complicated.
The extension will not affect a preliminary decision, expected to be delivered in late March, which will indicate the progress of the investigation.
