Consumers need to be more daring with décor
Laurence Llewellyn-Bowen has said that many British consumers are too cautious with interior design, which is why there are so many beige interiors.
In an interview ahead of the Interiors UK event the celebrity designer says that as a nation we are often so scared of being seen to have bad taste that we stick with safe options like neutral shades.
Llewellyn-Bowen also believes that 2012 could be the county’s time to shine in the interior design world and hopes that designers will take note of their influence on international style.
There has been speculation for many months now about the fashion for more colourful interiors and retailers are seeing many homeowners with a neutral décor buying bright rugs or wallpapering a single wall to add colour.
It is expected that Surfaces 2012 will demonstrate this as a new trend in flooring and Interiors UK, as the biggest interiors event for trade customers, will confirm that.
Wood flooring is an ideal choice for keeping up with fashion as it is timeless and any room style can fit around the timber.
Many wood floors can also be sanded down and refinished so if you should want a more, or less, colourful floor then it is a great high quality option.
