Cork bathroom flooring on offer for home refurbishments

Cork bathroom flooring is one of the materials being offered by a firm specialising in eco-friendly home makeovers.

The bGreen Mobile showroom is touring Boston, Massachusetts, offering a chance for people in the city to see close up what sort of things they could do in their homes, Boston.com reports.

Cork flooring was among a variety of materials on display inside the van, which is painted green to match its theme.

Others include bamboo and recycled glass and concrete, which could be used for other parts of the house like counter tops while cork is installed in the bathroom.

Founders of the firm Barry Greenstein and Lee Schneider launched the van idea after deciding they wanted to reach their markets in a new way as well as using the online route.

Cork is considered a green material because it is sustainably harvested from bark without harming the parent tree.

Another instance of its use is in flooring at the new Johnson City hospital in Tennessee, which has been built along green lines, with other features including a range of energy-efficiency features and paint with low levels of volatile organic compounds, Knox News reported this week.
