Cork bathroom flooring popularity grows

The popularity of cork bathroom flooring is growing in Canada, it has been noted.

A feature on its use in homes by the Calgary Herald found that the product is increasingly favoured as people realise its qualities.

Among the aspects mentioned by experts and flooring store employees were its softness underfoot and water-retardent qualities, which those looking for a bathroom floor may consider when choosing the material to use.

The paper also noted the frequent use of cork in games rooms and kitchens.

Flooring sales consultant Richard Hough told the publication the product is handy when items are dropped on it, something that can happen in a kitchen.

"Cork is a self-healing floor. You can dent it, you can scratch it, if you stab something into it, cork will rebound," he remarked.

Earlier this week, it was revealed cork was used for flooring in a refurbished store at the Amon Crater Museum of American Art near Fort Worth, Texas.
