The Canadian city of Montreal became the latest city to be visited by a roadshow aimed at demonstrating the qualities of cork bathroom flooring.

Run by the Portuguese cork association Apcor, the Decor(k) show is touring the US and Canada with the aim of promoting the material for flooring purposes.

As well as the many designs on offer, the sustainable and renewable nature of cork is being highlighted in the event, the exhibition's designer Manon LeBlanc noted.

He said: "Cork flooring is comfortable, durable and eco-friendly and comes in a variety of designs and finishes. What more could you want from your floor?"

Mr Le Blanc also described cork as being the "perfect choice" because it is "stylish and functional" at the same time.

Elsewhere in Canada, the Edmonton Journal praised cork flooring last week, saying it is becoming the "flooring of choice" for many householders.

It noted the words of flooring expert Kristin Krokys, who explained that the resistance cork has to moisture makes it ideal for rooms where water often falls on the floor.
