A house being sold in Canada features cork flooring among its notable attributes.
The property in the Richmond area of Vancouver was sold for CAD$382,000 (£233,000) and one of the items that may have helped attract its buyers was the presence of cork flooring in the kitchen and landing, which the Vancouver Sun described as "environmentally friendly".
It is a large house, with three bedrooms, three bathrooms and three levels, with the property being a modern construction that was completed in 1997.
Cork flooring is widely regarded as being environmentally friendly because the means by which it is sourced does not kill the cork oak tree.
Because the material comes from the bark, it can be stripped from the branches without harming the tree and will grow back in a few years, allowing it to be re-harvested again and again.
Cork bathroom flooring was a feature of a new eco-home built in the town of Kamloops, the same publication reported last week.
