27th May 2010
According to the International Business Times, the "green glamour" on show at the 1960s Bay Area home owned by Zem Joaquin and her husband James includes renewable and recyclable materials as well as vintage and reused furniture and eco-conscious flooring.
In the home, Joaquin "seems to have created a new style of that is Hollywood-eco-eclecticism", said the source.
As well as cork flooring, low energy bulbs and old furniture sourced from markets, the home features countertops made out of newspaper pulp and ash as well as energy star rated appliances.
Meanwhile, an eco-home in Sun Rivers is currently being used as a display to help local residents see how great an environmentally conscious home can look, reported the Kamloops News.
The home is expected to receive up to 60,000 visitors over the next six months.
