Cork is one if the best materials to have as kitchen flooring, it has been stated.
Writing about the choices of kitchen flooring available, the Yamhill Valley New Register stated that while substances like brick, tile or slate may look good, these take a major toll on the feet of anyone who is cooking.
Suggesting that the softness of cork makes it an ideal alternative, Brenda Bennett of Fjelland Floors in McMinnville stated: "It's great for people with joint problems. It's easier on your joints, especially compared to something really hard, like tiles."
Ms Bennett also praised the material for its environmental qualities as a wood sourced by trimming bark rather than cutting down a tree, remarking that this makes it "the ultimate green product".
Blogging recently for Massachussetts-based portal Wicked Local, real estate expert Leslie Mann said that cork was one of a number of "renewable, highly resilient" products that those wanting to make their home more eco-friendly could consider.
