Cork flooring tipped as strong green option

Cork flooring is one of the best options for those wanting to have a green floor, it has been stated.

In a feature on the subject, annarbor.com quoted Jere L'Heureux of flooring firm Contract Options assaying that cork has been making a comeback in recent times.

"Hard to believe, but it is one of our oldest floors - all natural and fully bio-degradable, soft underfoot, resilient, easy to clean and just plain different from most standard floors," Mr L'Heureux noted.

He observed that the material is particularly eco-friendly because it comes from the bark of the cork tree, which grows back every few years.

The softness underfoot that Mr L'Hereux mentioned is a good reason to have the material in the kitchen, according to the Yamhill Valley New Register.

Writing about kitchen flooring choices this week, it said this aspect made it preferable to harder substances like tile, brick or slate.
