Cork flooring 'to feature in expo'

Cork flooring will be a feature of a green homes expo to be held in the US state of North Carolina this coming weekend (August 21st and 22nd), it has been stated.

Such a feature is likely to be a notable aspect of houses on display in the Southern Energy and Environment Expo, Mountainx.com reports.

"Expect to see cork flooring in the kitchen," it noted.

As well as cork, flooring materials on display on the green homes will include various recycled substances, while there will be a variety of micro-renewable devices like solar panels on show as well, the news provider notes.

Cork is considered eco-friendly because it can be sustainably harvested from the bark of the cork oak without killing the tree in the way timber felling does.

It can also be popular in kitchens for more reasons than just because it is green, since it is widely regarded as being very kind on the feet as a softer and warmer material than the alternatives, something that may benefit those who are standing up in the kitchen a lot.
