Women are to be offered lessons in flooring installation by TV builder Craig Phillips.
The former Big Brother winner is hosting a weekend of demonstrations through Chix & Mortar - the DIY training firm he launched this year.
Laying flooring and skirting boards will be on the agenda next month, as well as basic plumbing, painting and wallpapering skills.
With single women accounting for more than a fifth of British households and 60 per cent of DIY purchases being made by females, Phillips explained that the aim is to help them become more independent around the home.
"In these current times people do want to try to do more themselves rather than have to pay someone else to do things," he said.
The course is being held at Richmond Adult College on September 26th and 27th.
Householder Sarah Dowding recently told the Times that she had saved a significant amount of money by choosing to renovate her home herself, with the installation of laminate flooring among the work carried out.
