The refurbishment of a stone house, originally built in the 1930s, has seen a lot of mod-cons introduced but some of its older features retained, such as the hardwood flooring.
According to Caller.com, the home of Craig and Paulette Mizes - situated in Corpus Christi's Bessar Park in Texas - combines both the modern and the traditional, bringing in a new roof and wall insulation.
Speaking to the publication, the designer and homeowner - who finds inspiration in magazines, design shops and films - observed that there is little left of the original features, apart from the wood flooring, rounded window at the top of the stairs and the banister.
"It has the charm of an old home with all the modern conveniences," it was said.
And more people appear to be interested in the benefits of having hardwood flooring within their homes, as Johnson-based Mullican Flooring recently revealed that it is planning to employ more people and increase production in line with demand for this.
