Dual solution for environmental issues

An American entrepreneur has managed to solve two problems with one universally beneficial solution.

Soil erosion and recycling carpet are two issues which seem to be linked by nothing but the environmental consequences, however there may be one resolution for both.

More and more customers are looking for ways to be eco friendly in every area, including their flooring, and one big problem with carpet is how to dispose of it in a green way when most old products end up on landfills.

Soil erosion is also a huge problem environmentally because it destroys productive farmland, undermines structures of buildings, bridges and river banks, but Dan Hargett may have found the perfect solution.

In an interview with The State today Mr Hargett said: “I am very excited about this product. We think we have something special here.”

The product in question is GeoHay which is created using fibres of old carpets which have been dumped in landfills and then cutting the carpets in to sections.

GeoHay can then be used to channel or absorb water in a variety of situations and even works effectively as a drive or path surface, with the added bonus that it is an environmentally friendly solution for old carpets.
