Ease of installation 'makes laminate flooring popular'

Laminate flooring is rising in popularity as a surface, it has been stated.

Home improvement expert Ron Hazelton told Silive.com: "Laminate flooring is one of the best, easiest and most affordable ways to update and upgrade a home."

The site noted that fitting such a floor requires no glue, nails or staples, while the surface is easier to clean than natural wood.

It said the sorts of laminate flooring that are becoming most popular are those which replicate an exotic look, such as bamboo or teak, with flooring firm Pergo stating that rustic looks with a worn finish are becoming particularly popular in Europe.

The ease with which laminate flooring can be put in place was demonstrated recently in Cardiff by flooring company Westco.

Workers at the firm set a new world record for the fastest laying of such a surface when a 14 square metre area - the equivalent of the average UK living room - was covered in eight minutes and eight seconds, Wales Online reported.
