Eco-carpets 'are the future'
23rd April 2010
Managing director of supplier Carpets Inter, Parkpoom Jarnyaharn, told Hotelier Middle East that demand for environmentally-friendly carpets is high and that the overall level of demand is strong in the region.
He added that he expects to see a stronger economic recovery in Asia than in the Americas.
Commenting on the increased trend for hotels to choose eco-friendly carpets, he noted: "Green considerations have become the norm in the design and purchase stages."
Mr Jarnyaharn said the most popular carpets it is supplying include tiled carpet, hand tuft and Axminster.
Among the buildings his firm has supplied carpets to is the Burkj Khalifa in Dubai, the tallest skyscraper in the world.
The tower's size led to it being a large source of demand for flooring providers, with these having to cater for 1,044 residential units, 37 floors of office space and 160 hotel rooms and suites.
